Done with ASUW…?
I think I’ve done it. I finished up the all the last minute programming projects I had lined up for the ASUW. The SAOI is running wonderfully and has a bunch of new admin tools to boot. Tomorrow, early, I’m going in to clean up my office and computer and turn my keys in. It feels really weird knowing that tomorrow is the end.
The ASUW was three full years of my life. Three out of four college years I spent the better part of 25 hours per week in the ASUW office; sometimes many more. It’s difficult to imagine what my college experience would have been like if I had done something other than work for the student government. Would I still have gone with accounting? Would I be starting a job with Ernst & Young in four days? Hell, if I start down this path I start to ask myself what would have happened if I had stayed in Oregon to attend a state university. Yes, it would have been cheaper, but I wouldn’t trade the experiences I’ve had and where I am right now for the dollar savings.
I’ve definitely learned a great deal over the past 17 years. 17 years of schooling. Wow. Now I am ready to begin a new chapter in my life as I start my career. Excited? You bet. Nervous? Just a bit.
