    Training in Cleveland

I just booked my flight for a week of training in Cleveland, OH. It’s going to be a long flight there on Sunday, but on the upside, the cheapest fare was in first class. I’m still trying to figure out what is going to be on my docket for Wednesday-Friday of this upcoming week; hopefully I’ll find out soon.

Everything is falling into place thus far.

    Time for the weekend. :)

    The Next Chapter

    I’ve turned in my keys.

Today I truly closed the college/ASUW chapter of my life. I packed up my office, turned in my keys, and said goodbye to a few of my advisers. It was a great run, with great memories and has helped to shape who I am today.

But now, it’s time to start writing the next chapter of my life. Ernst & Young is waiting for me to start work and I am getting very excited. I’ve only got a few days left before I begin a whole new type of learning and, hopefully, success. Sunday night I will be flying down to San Jose for two days of orientation to start off my time with E&Y.

I’m not completely sure what I’ll be up to for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of next week, but I’ll be back on a jet Sunday the 23rd to Cleveland, OH for a week in order to do my first installment of TSRS Training. Talk about a quick start.

    I’m ready.

    Done with ASUW…?

I think I’ve done it. I finished up the all the last minute programming projects I had lined up for the ASUW. The SAOI is running wonderfully and has a bunch of new admin tools to boot. Tomorrow, early, I’m going in to clean up my office and computer and turn my keys in. It feels really weird knowing that tomorrow is the end.

The ASUW was three full years of my life. Three out of four college years I spent the better part of 25 hours per week in the ASUW office; sometimes many more. It’s difficult to imagine what my college experience would have been like if I had done something other than work for the student government. Would I still have gone with accounting? Would I be starting a job with Ernst & Young in four days? Hell, if I start down this path I start to ask myself what would have happened if I had stayed in Oregon to attend a state university. Yes, it would have been cheaper, but I wouldn’t trade the experiences I’ve had and where I am right now for the dollar savings.

I’ve definitely learned a great deal over the past 17 years. 17 years of schooling. Wow. Now I am ready to begin a new chapter in my life as I start my career. Excited? You bet. Nervous? Just a bit.

    Traffic

Oh brother. Traffic in Seattle is so fun to deal with. I have a feeling I am going to be late for my dinner date. I haven’t moved in about 3 minutes. Grrrrrr.

    Mariners Game

I went to my first Mariners game this weekend. It was a fun time with my parents and Keri, even though we lost. I might have to do this more often, even though I’m not a huge baseball fan lol.
